Hotels in Channel Islands, Channel Islands
Made up of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, the Channel Islands though geographically close to France are actually historically part of England. Not administered by the mainland, they are responsible for their own administration.
A visit to the Channel Islands serves as a relaxing escape with its natural beauty and mild climate.
Each island has its own personality and can be reached by a short ferry ride. The largest of the islands is Jersey with its WWII underground hospital and Elizabethan Castle. Guernsey is where Victor Hugo famously wrote Les Miserables while in exile. Alderney, Sark and Herm are peaceful getaways where cars aren't allowed in the latter two and bicycles not allowed in Herm. Being a compact one and a half miles long by a mile wide, you won’t miss the car that much as an easy stroll would get you from A to B quite nicely.
The incomparable natural landscape you can expect to find on the Channel Islands includes rocky cliff lined shores, beautiful golden sandy beaches and pretty whitewashed houses scattered along green rolling hills. Visitors find life very relaxing on the islands and the local people very friendly and hospitable.
